THE WINERY – CASTELLO DEI RAMPOLLA\u00a0<\/a><\/h2>\n

The land on which the Castello dei Rampolla farm stands has been owned by the family since 1739.<\/p>\n

Much history has passed over these lands, but that of our family starts in the mid-1960\u2019s with the dream of one man, Alceo di Napoli Rampolla, who wished to create a great wine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 1975 their first bottles of Chianti Classico were produced. This was a time when Chianti Classico was struggling to assert itself and to earn the respect it deserved.<\/p>\n

Alceo then had an intuition and decided, with the help of a great winemaker Giacomo Tachis , to be the first in the area to plant Cabernet Sauvignon and to blend it with Sangiovese.<\/p>\n

This was the first of the Castello dei Rampolla revolutions, only a few years after the farms birth.<\/p>\n

SAMMARCO<\/h2>\n

It is an elegant and refined wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with a percentage of Sangiovese and Merlot.<\/p>\n

Production varies depending on the weather conditions: 8000 \u2013 25000 bottles.<\/p>\n

Tasting notes<\/h3>\n

Sammarco is a very fresh wine with fine aromas<\/strong> of woodland undergrowth and a deep, intense colour.<\/strong>
\nIt is characterised by distinct aromas of ripe fruit and has a strong concentration of powerful tannins.<\/p>\n

Vinification and aging<\/h3>\n

3 months: concrete tanks; 12-15 months: tonneaux and oak barrels 12 HL; no toast \/ medium toast;\u00a018-24 months: bottle<\/p>\n
