WINERY – LE CHIUSE<\/a><\/h2>\n

Le Chiuse has ancient origins as a source of wine, wheat and olive oil. The estate came into the possession of the Biondi Santi family at the end of the 18th century as a dowry of Maria Tamanti when she married Clemente Santi. Their daughter Caterina married Jacopo Biondi and their son Ferruccio, the great grandfather of Simonetta Valiani, respected his mother\u2019s wishes and added her surname Santi to the family name.<\/p>\n

In the twentieth century the vineyards, until 1986, were leased by Fiorella Biondi Santi to her brother Franco, the owner of the estate “Il Greppo.”<\/p>\n

On the death of Fiorella in 1986, his daughter Simonetta Valiani decided to start his own business and, with her husband Nicol\u00f2 Magnelli, began to readjust the farm. He built the cellar, replanted the vineyards and converted to organic. The road was uphill, but it was worth it: the Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino have reached such a finesse that few can match. The decision to produce only two wines, the choice of organic produce, the choice not to follow the fashions of the moment and the decision to keep the prices right: it is what makes this winery unique and special. An extraordinary winery.<\/p>\n

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO<\/a><\/h2>\n

Brunello di Montalcino is their archetype wine, produced in greatest quantity because it expresses the true spirit of Le Chiuse. Given the origins of Le Chiuse and the importance of the terrain, their approach is by definition traditional in style, aimed at preserving their history and the nature of the terroir in the wine\u2019s DNA.<\/p>\n

Every year their aim is to produce a wine that encompasses the elegance of Sangiovese within the typical structure of Brunello to express the essence of Le Chiuse.<\/p>\n

  • Colour:<\/strong> Deep strong ruby red with bright garnet hues. Brilliant.<\/li>\n
  • Bouquet:<\/strong> Intense scent with easy memories of blueberry, small fruits, black currant and cherry. It is easy to appreciate also notes of violet, mineral hints of flint and spicy scents.<\/li>\n
  • Flavour:<\/strong> Great body and elegance. Neat with good complexity. In the mouth it shows all the character of a great wine, with good persistence, elegant and refined tannins.<\/li>\n
