Remains of the original structure, first built for defensive purposes and them converted into a farmhouse, are still visible.<\/p>\n<p>In 1967, the estate was purchased by Sergio Manetti, an iron and steel industrialist, to make it into his holiday home. He renovated the main house, turned it into a habitable space and planted two hectares of land with vineyards. He then set up a small winemaking cellar with the idea of producing some wine as a gift for friends and customers. The first vintage produced, the 1971, was quite good and Sergio Manetti sent a few bottles to the Vinitaly show in Verona through Siena\u2019s Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element vc_custom_1531411181880 text_bottom_left\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The wine met with immediate success and Sergio was so excited about it that, a few years later, he retired from his former business to devote all his energies to winemaking, with Giulio Gambelli\u2019s assistance and the support of Bruno Bini, his faithful cellarman.<\/p>\n<p>New vineyards were planted, new wine cellars were built, and the winery grew into a very successful business. Sergio Manetti died in November 2000 and, since then, the winery has been run by his son Martino Manetti, who keeps pursuing the traditional values which are Montevertine\u2019s driving force.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>LE PERGOLE TORTE<\/h2>\n<p>&#8221; The first vintage released was the 1977. It was the first 100% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopinlanghe.com\/sellers?render_type=sellerview&amp;id_seller=5\">Sangiovese<\/a> wine to be produced in the Radda in Chianti area. The grapes come from our oldest vineyards, planted between 1968 and 1999. It is aged for one year in Allier barriques and one year in Slavonian oak barrels. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Alcoholic Fermentation:<\/b>\u00a0in concrete vats for about 25 days<br \/>\n<b>Malolactic Fermentation:<\/b>\u00a0in concrete vats<br \/>\n<b>Ageing:<\/b>\u00a012 months in barriques, 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels and about 3 months in bottle<br \/>\n<b>Serving Temperature:<\/b>\u00a017-18\u00b0<br \/>\n<b>Makes an ideal match for:<\/b>\u00a0white and red roast meat, poultry, game, cheese.<\/p>\n<h3>Vintage 2018<\/h3>\n<p>The 2018 vintage is an excellent vintage with wines of balanced maturation and particular harmony.
