FRESCOBALDI – TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA<\/a><\/h2>\n

For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany\u2019s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region.<\/p>\n

They always seek to maintain the identity and autonomy of each property.<\/p>\n

ORNELLAIA, perceived as one of the world\u2019s iconic wineries, has flourished under the Frescobaldi family\u2019s ownership. It is just one of the estates owned by the family alongside ATTEMS (Friuli), MASSETO, DANZANTE, LUCE DELLA VITE and the six FRESCOBALDI Estates, Nipozzano, CastelGiocondo, Pomino, Ammiraglia, Castiglioni and Remole.<\/p>\n

ORNELLAIA<\/a><\/h2>\n

The desire to nurture the Estate\u2019s exceptional qualities has shaped Ornellaia\u2019s philosophy since the beginning. Ornellaia is a cuv\u00e9e of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot and the faithful expression of unique terroir developed in harmony with nature.<\/p>\n

Vinification and ageing – Vintage 2000<\/h3>\n

The grapes from the individual vineyard blocks were all subjected to manual quality selection on sorting tables and each grape variety and vineyard block was vinified separately. After the grapes were de-stemmed and gently pressed. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out partially in wooden fermentors and partially in stainless steel tanks with temperatures around 26-30\u00b0C. After a 20-25 day maceration, the wine was racked into French barriques, 70% new and 30% once-used, to finish its malolactic fermentation. Barrel ageing of the different grape varieties and vineyard blocks, lasting a total of 18 months, was in the Tenuta dell\u2019Ornellaia\u2019s climate-controlled barrel cellar. The final blend was assembled after 12 months maturation, then the wine was returned to the barriques for a further 6 months ageing. After bottling, the wine<\/a> received an additional 12 months of ageing in the bottle before release.<\/p>\n
