AVIGNONESI<\/h2>\n

N<\/span>amed after the original founders of the estate, the Avignonesi family, the winery has undergone an exciting journey since it was first established. Acquired by Virginie Saverys in 2009, Avignonesi has grown in size and at the same time has become a leader in biodynamic viticulture in Italy. Since the acquisition and thanks to Virginie\u2019s respect for the ecosystem, her staff and the final consumer, the winery has started producing and crafting organic wines that are truly authentic to their origins yet singular and unique. And in the best biodynamic approach our wines receive minimal intervention in the cellar! Sustainability also plays a big part in the everyday life at Avignonesi.<\/p>\n

Avignonesi today…<\/h3>\n

T<\/span>o date, the estate has grown to 175 hectares of vineyards including the purchase of a state-of-the-art winemaking facility.
\nIt is Virginie\u2019s perseverance to look after the land and her compelling willingness to produce a wine that is quite unique and true to its origins that allowed for life to be brought back into the vineyards and created a healthier working environment for all staff.
\nThe Avignonesi wines enhance the richness and elegance of the Montepulciano heritage. Sangiovese wines have been produced for centuries here, and the fascination that lies around this appellation is elevated by the \u201dback to basics, no un-natural intervention\u201d approach that biodynamic viticulture entails.
\nThis methodology and the passion shared by all staff for producing high quality products, allows us to respect the innate character of each wine by following its natural journey from the soil to the cellar and, finally to the glass!<\/p>\n

GRANDI ANNATE<\/h2>\n

T<\/span>he Grandi Annate is only produced during the best vintages. The philosophy behind this wine is to highlight the best traits of Sangiovese from Tuscany. This wine is a keeper. Lay it down, wait and enjoy it later due to its fantastic ageing potential.<\/p>\n

  • The wine shows a beautiful bouquet,<\/strong> with notes of dill, licorice, cheroot and violet.<\/li>\n
  • Taste.<\/strong>\u00a0The wine is rich, with silky tannins and is a typical expression of the terroir, mirroring the balance of a soil rich in clay, limestone and sand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    • Winemaking.<\/strong> The must from each vineyard was vinified separately and the fermentation was spontaneous, with the use of indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins lasted up to 30 days, depending on each vineyard lot.<\/li>\n
    • Fermentation. <\/strong>18 months in large oak casks and barriques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
