Marco Felluga and Russiz Superiore are two of the most prestigious wineries of Collio region: they have an enduring relationship with the wine\u00a0 that can be considered a true dynasty of winemakers, that has been able to exploit the potential of some varieties and territories suited to the vine.<\/p>\n
In the 30\u2019s, after the World War I, Giovanni Felluga decided to move to Friuli and more precisely, in the Collio. Marco, the penultimate of his seven children, continued the family business and in 1956 he founded the company which has his name. Thanks to him, who trained as a young man at the prestigious school of oenology of Conegliano, we have the path of innovation, quality and research.<\/p>\n
The balance managed between innovation and tradition have made his company a benchmark for the entire territory. Today, his son continues on the path of absolute quality: Roberto represents the fifth generation of winemakers and leads both companies, Marco Felluga in Gradisca d’Isonzo\u00a0 and Russiz Superiore in Capriva del Friuli.<\/p>\n
The Russiz Superiore winery produces around 85% of the single varieties in steel tanks and 15% in wood, even the red wines are aged in small oak barrels, the single varieties for at least a year, two years for the Collio Rosso Riserva degli Orzoni.<\/p>\n
The wine\u2019s name comes from the vineyard\u2019s position. \u201cRonco\u201d in Friulano language refers to a section on the hill and \u201cMoreri\u201d to the mulberries that surround the vineyard.<\/p>\n
Production Area: <\/strong>Village of Farra d\u2019Isonzo in the Collio DOC. Elevation: 80 meters (263 feet) above sea level.<\/p>\n Grape Varietal:<\/strong> Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. This very old varietal, that originally came from the area between Carso and Istria, has been documented as growing in Venezia Giulia since 1467.<\/p>\n Winemaking:<\/strong> After destemming, the grapes underwent maceration in large stainless steel vats, and were delicately pressed to maintain their varietal flavors and aromas.<\/p>\n Aging<\/strong> : The wine aged in large and small oak casks for twelve months.
