The Frescobaldi Family<\/h3>\n

For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany\u2019s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region.<\/p>\n

They always seek to maintain the identity and autonomy of each property.<\/p>\n

ORNELLAIA, perceived as one of the world\u2019s iconic wineries, has flourished under the Frescobaldi family\u2019s ownership. It is just one of the estates owned by the family alongside ATTEMS (Friuli), MASSETO, DANZANTE, LUCE DELLA VITE and the six FRESCOBALDI Estates, Nipozzano, CastelGiocondo, Pomino, Ammiraglia, Castiglioni and Remole.<\/p>\n

In the cellar<\/h3>\n

The cellar is the continuation of the vineyard. Here as well each vineyard is treated as an individual, vinified separately, with the objective to express the specific character of its parcel. Again the palate is our main tool, the daily tasting of the fermenting wines allow us to adapt extraction and maceration time to each of the 70 to 80 base wines, that will mature separately in small French oak barrels, before being selected and blended to achieve a subtle balance: expressing the specific character of the vintage while keeping Ornellaia\u2019s voluptuous elegance.<\/p>\n

Philosophy<\/h3>\n

Our production philosophy revolves around Ornellaia\u2019s obsession with excellence \u2013 at all levels. Every choice we make is of absolute importance and implies an all-consuming attention to detail. At no point in the production process are shortcuts allowed or tolerated, and this is how we succeed harvesting grapes that are of the very highest quality irrespective of the climatic conditions in that particular year.<\/p>\n

ORNUS ORNELLAIA<\/h2>\n

Ornus dell\u2019Ornellaia is a late harvest Petit Manseng produced in extremely limited quantities and gives yet another dimension to the Estate. In certain vintages conditions are perfect in the tiny \u201cPalmetta\u201d vineyard for the production of this exclusive dessert wine. The name Ornus dell\u2019Ornellaia takes its inspiration from \u2018Fraxinus Ornus\u2019, the Latin name for the Manna or Flowering Ash (in Italian, Orniello), the tree which has given its name to the Ornellaia. The \u201cManna Ash\u201d Orniello or \u2018Fraxinus Ornus\u2019 is a tree which is typical to the Mediterranean coastal area. Its precious sap has been used since Biblical times as a sweetener and acts as a perfect link to the sweetness of Ornus dell\u2019Ornellaia.<\/p>\n

\u201cOrnus dell\u2019Ornellaia was inspired by passion for our lands and by the desire to explore its potential in producing great sweet wines, favoured by the typically mild and particularly breezy autumn in Bolgheri. With a classic, intense, golden-yellow colour, Ornus dell\u2019Ornellaia 2016 unleashes lively aromas of amaretto and almond, accompanied by sweet notes of exotic fruit. It is particularly dense and velvety in the mouth, with a beautiful sweetness perfectly balanced by a lively and juicy acidity.\u201d<\/p>\n
