History<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Since time immemorial Nebbiolo has been the most highly-prized vine and the wine-growing emblem of Alba and the Langa, and when it is matched with a great wine-making terroir it is capable of expressing itself at sublime levels in wines of remarkable personality, intense bouquet, great smooth tannins, and outstanding possibilities of evolution and resistance over time.<\/p>\n

The members of the Giuseppe Mascarello family have been growing wines for more than a century and a half, first as farmers running the Manescotto estate in the village of La Morra for the marchesa Giulia Colbert Faletti di Barolo, and then on their own property since the late 1800s.<\/p>\n

Philosophy<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

The winery\u2019s outstanding results have been achieved by our family\u2019s application over decades of a series of rules and self-limits, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • very short winter pruning \u2013 from six to nine buds, depending on the vigour of each single vine;<\/li>\n
  • removal in spring of any less than perfect bunches;<\/li>\n
  • summer thinning of the grapes that could compromise each plant\u2019s ability to ripen every bunch to perfection;<\/li>\n
  • production of no more than 6-6.5 tons of grapes per hectare;<\/li>\n
  • hand-picking, with grading and drastic cleaning performed in the vineyard, removing any imperfect grapes berry-by-berry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    BAROLO MONPRIVATO<\/h2>\n

    Brooding and classical in style, with excellent depth of flavour and a real plushness on the palate, this is just so charming.The aromatics are Nebbiolo at its very best, whilst maintaining perfect freshness alongside the ripeness and richness of the vintage. A knockout Monprivato from the legendary Mascarello estate.<\/p>\n

    • Vineyard:<\/strong>\u00a0Monprivato\u00ae, in the village of Castiglione Falletto (CN)<\/li>\n
    • Wine-making process:<\/strong>\u00a0Estate-grown bunches thinned during the summer undergo traditional-style, floating cap fermentation for 20\/25 days. The wine is then matured in medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels for around 30 months.<\/li>\n
    • Tasting notes:<\/strong>
      \nColour:<\/strong>\u00a0garnet red with orange-coloured highlights;
      \nNose:<\/strong>\u00a0complex, very fruity, elegant, intense, spicy, with flowery touches;
      \nTaste:<\/strong>\u00a0excellent body with power and stuffing, demanding, masculine, long, full.<\/li>\n
