THE WINERY – TENUTA MASSETO<\/h2>\n

“The Masseto winery is the monolithic physical symbol of this wine, as is the wall of huge rocks marking the boundary of the estate. When you think of a great institution there is always a point of reference to a specific building. The same now applies to Masseto and its vineyards.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“At Masseto, we try to do as little as possible to the wines. Our goal is simply to capture the essence of nature and take it to the highest level.This is about an amazing, very challenging, vineyard and wine made with great simplicity. We have tanks. We have barrels. So..We have gravity flow. And we have people who care about the wine. That\u2019s it. That\u2019s our philosophy.”<\/em><\/p>\n

MASSETINO<\/h2>\n

Since the birth of Masseto, an extremely strict selection of the grapes has always been carried out in order to guarantee the highest possible quality. Now that Masseto has its own winery, the grapes which are not included in the master blend can be bottled as a \u2018second vin\u2019: Massetino.
\nThe first vintage of Massetino is the 2017: a hot and dry vintage requiring a very accurate selection. It was\u00a0 considered the right moment to bottle for the first time an extremely small quantity of the \u2018second vin\u2019 of Masseto.
\nMassetino is a blend of predominantly Merlot with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc coming from a few selected vineyard parcels which have been replanted and show great potential.<\/p>\n

TASTING NOTES<\/h3>\n

Born out of the strict selection for Masseto, Massetino shares the same pedigree as its sibling.<\/p>\n

  • The hot and dry vintage shows in a dark colour<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • and rich and ripe aromatics,<\/strong> dominated by stewed plums and blackberries.<\/li>\n
