Climate<\/h4>\n

Following a mild and not particularly rainy autumn and winter, spring 2016 in Chianti Classico started off well with warm weather favoring early bud break that occurred 10 days before average.<\/p>\n

Rain and cool temperatures started in May and continued throughout the first half of June but did not have an adverse effect on the critical phases of flowering and fruit set.<\/p>\n

Up until the end of August, summer temperatures were generally hot and dry without any big heat spikes:\u00a0 ideal conditions to maintain an excellent balance throughout the vegetative cycle and to guarantee perfect berry ripening.<\/p>\n

Climatic conditions during the harvesting months were normal for the season with several episodes of rain showers that alternated with long periods of sunshine and breezy weather, conditions that allowed for ideal ripening of the three grape varieties grown in Tignanello\u2019s vineyards.<\/p>\n

Sangiovese was harvested starting on September 23rd<\/sup>, Cabernet Franc from the end of September to the first couple of days of October and Cabernet Sauvignon from October 3rd<\/sup> to the 10th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Tasting Notes<\/h3>\n

Here\u2019s a structured red with lots of finesse.<\/p>\n

It opens with alluring aromas of fragrant blue flowers, red berries, baking spices and exotic herbs while the firm, vibrant palate delivers black cherry, crushed raspberry, clove, orange zest, licorice and a sprinkling of white pepper.
