The wine made here was never meant to exist. The potential of the unused slope was finally seen in the 1980\u2019s when, against all odds, advice and local tradition, the first vines were planted. Over the next three decades the vineyard has revealed many secrets, but still more remain to be uncovered.<\/p>\n<h3>-The family-<\/h3>\n<p>For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany\u2019s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&lt;&lt;Masseto is a unique and magical place, surrounded by forests and caressed by sea breezes on hot summer days. A rare combination of sumptuous opulence and polished elegance.<br \/>\nAs a tribute to its rugged force, its softness, and the debt it owes to the soil from which it rises, Masseto was named after the rock-hard clusters of blue clay called \u2018massi\u2019 that form on the vineyard\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n<h3>-Vintage 2015 tasting notes-<\/h3>\n<p>The regularity of the vintage, along with ideal temperatures during harvest, are reflected in a classic Masseto, with a perfect balance between a mature, complex, aromatic expression of great freshness and a rare quality of ample, silky and smooth tannins. Dark and intense in colour and rich in aromas with hints of fully ripe red fruit and spicy, balsamic and cocoa notes. In the mouth it becomes sensual and rich, with great density and an ample and perfectly smooth tannin.
