{"id":13842,"date":"2018-01-28T08:47:07","date_gmt":"2018-01-28T07:47:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fonsvinum.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=13842"},"modified":"2026-07-01T14:44:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T12:44:43","slug":"brunello-di-montalcino-2013-altesino","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/fonsvinum.com\/en\/product\/brunello-di-montalcino-2013-altesino\/","title":{"rendered":"Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Altesino<\/h1>\n<h3>Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Altesino<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0is a red\u00a0Italian wine\u00a0produced in the\u00a0vineyards\u00a0surrounding the town of\u00a0Montalcino\u00a0located about 80\u00a0km south of\u00a0Florence\u00a0in the\u00a0Tuscany wine\u00a0region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In 1879 the Province of Siena&#8217;s Amphelographic Commission determined, after a few years of controlled experiments, that\u00a0Sangiovese\u00a0and Brunello were the same grape variety, and that the former should be its designated name.<\/p>\n<p>In Montalcino the name Brunello evolved into the designation of the wine produced with 100% Sangiovese.<\/p>\n<h3>Climate<\/h3>\n<p>Montalcino has one of the warmest and driest climates in\u00a0Tuscany\u00a0with the grapes in the area\u00a0ripening\u00a0up to a week earlier than in nearby\u00a0Vino Nobile di Montepulciano\u00a0and\u00a0Chianti Classico.<\/p>\n<p>It is the most arid Tuscan DOCG, receiving an average annual rainfall of around 700\u00a0mm, in contrast to the Chianti region which receives an average of 900\u00a0mm.<\/p>\n<p>As with all of the\u00a0Northern Hemisphere, the north-facing slopes receive fewer hours of sunlight and are generally cooler than the south-facing slopes.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, vineyards planted on the north-facing slopes ripen more slowly and tend to produce wines that are racier and more aromatic.<\/p>\n<p>Vineyards on the southern and western slopes receive more intense exposure to sunlight and more\u00a0maritime\u00a0winds which produces wines with more power and complexity.<\/p>\n<p>The top producers in the area have vineyards on both slopes, and make use of a blend of both styles.<\/p>\n<h3>Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Altesino<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is produced exclusively with Sangiovese grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand.<\/li>\n<li>Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks<\/li>\n<li>Subsequently the wine is aged in barriques for 24 months and for another 4 months in bottle before being put on the market.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Tasting notes<\/h3>\n<h4>Color<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>intense ruby red.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Perfume<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>opens with a broad and ethereal bouquet of violet breasts, enriched with pleasant hints of vanilla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Taste<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>it is dry<\/li>\n<li>warm<\/li>\n<li>pleasantly velvety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Pairings<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>red and roasted meats<\/li>\n<li>ideal with game<\/li>\n<li>aged cheeses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is absolutely unique in terms of its aromatic display. To me, the nose is particularly beautiful because I have a preference for balsamic notes of cola, mint or medicinal herb. These aromas are often more prominent in coller vintages like 2013 in the Brunello appellation. In this case, they resemble intense eucalyptus. There is subtle fruit at the back, with wild berry and plum. The mouthfeel here is absolutely silky, fresh and streamlined. It is stitched finely together like lace&#8230;This is my kind of Brunello.
