Paolo Scavino is an historical winery in the Barolo region.<\/p>\n
It was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto from Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo.<\/p>\n
Farming has always been a family tradition and passion.<\/p>\n
Enrico Scavino together with the daughters Enrica and Elisa, fourth generation, run the family Estate.<\/p>\n
He started to work full time in the winery in 1951 when he was 10 years old.<\/p>\n
A young winemaker who inherited the passion and devotion for the land he belongs to.<\/p>\n
Through over 60 years of experience his focus has been to invest on important cru of Nebbiolo to show the uniqueness of each terroir.<\/p>\n
Their work is inspired by the love and respect they have for their territory and they pursue purity of expression, complexity and elegance for their wines from the three local grapes Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo.<\/p>\n
These values and culture have been carried on and never changed.<\/p>\n
Paolo Scavino owns 30\u00a0hectares entirely in the Barolo area and works on 20 Barolo historical crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d\u2019Alba, Verduno and Roddi.<\/p>\n
The Scavino family distinguishes itself from the beginning by their scrupulous care of the vineyards and passion for terroir. Their core beliefs is the supremacy of the viticulture above the oenology therefore the focus is the care of the vines in order to grow ripe and healthy grapes. In winemaking minimal and equal intervention are sought, to preserve natural diversities, terroir.<\/p>\n
Cannubi is probably the most historical vineyard of the all Barolo region, in Barolo village. We vinify this cru from 1985 and this is one of the two oldest vineyards of ours planted in 1946 on the central crest of Cannubi hill.<\/p>\n
Low yield ofthis vineyard is due to a special combination of natural factors one of which is the old age of the vines assuring a unique quality.<\/p>\n
