The complex is surrounded by woods, olive groves and vines which, together with an enchanting garden and an ample saltwater swimming pool, create a liberating and healthy sensation inn the middle of the tuscan countryside.
An ideal place to take long walks or, if you prefer, a scenic bike ride available on the property.
We are conveniently located admidst some of the most panoramic and cultural villages in Tuscany including Pienza, Montepulciano, San Quirico d’Orcia and Bagno Vignoni not to mention Firenze and Siena as well.

Le Ragnaie winery extends over 28 hectres in the county of Montalcino which is located in the Province of Siena. Our land is coltivated with vines and olive groves and we follow the guidelines for Organic Agriculture*.
Our vineyards are divided into three distinct parcels of land throughout Montalcino which allows us to produce three diverse ‘terroirs’ of Brunello:

1. Le Ragnaie: Vineyard is located in the central zone of Montalcino. The vines here enjoy the highest elevation of any vineyard in Montalcino.

2. Petroso: Vineyard is located along the Scarnacuoia rd below the village of Montalcino. It is located in one of the oldestwine making zones in the area.

3. Castelnuovo dell’Abate: Vineyard is located in the southern sector of Montalcino in front of the Amiata Mountain.

Our vines are 100% Sangiovese and are worked following the strict guidelines of organic agriculture: we do not use any chemicals with the exception ofa bordeux mixture and powdered sulfur, always staying within the limits set by the guidelines of the biological agriculture association.
We do not use fertilizer instead we plant covercrops which in the Fall. These plants consist of legumes, clovers and grasses.

Le Ragnaie imbottiglia tre Brunello, un base e due 2 cru, Vecchie Vigne e Fornace, oltre al Rosso di Montalcino e un Chianti dei Colli Senesi.

Vinificazione :

Our cellar is located on Le Ragnaie estate. It has recently been expanded and remodeled and allows us to work in an extremely safe and clean environment. Once the grape bunches are harvested by hand they are destemmed and placed on a vibrating table. This process allows us to eliminate any “bad” grapes, leaves and stems that were not removed in the destemmer.
It also ensures that any all of the grapes that are made into wine are of the highest quality. The musts are then placed in cement vats to begin the maceration and fermentation process.
They willmremain in these vats for anywhere from 25 to 40 days.
Next they are pressed and placed in barrels. We use both 25hl slovenian oak and 2,25hl Allier oak barrels in this process. The length of time that the wine remains in the barrel varies.
The Rosso di Montalcino stays for 9 months in the barrel and we use barrels of various dimensions for this wine.
The Brunello di Montalcino rests for 36-48 months in 25hl Slovanoan Oak Barrels. Next the wine is bottled where it rests in a temperature and humidity controlled environment until it is ready to be put on the market.

La cantina di Riccardo, che ho visitato, è situata presso il centro aziendale delle Ragnaie, in ambienti essenziali e razionali che consentono di lavorare nella massima sicurezza e pulizia.
Dopo la vendemmia,  le uve vengono selezionate su un tavolo di cernita vibrante dove vengono scelti i grappoli migliori, consentendo di vinificare solo uve di qualità.

I mosti vengono fatti fermentare e macerare in tini di cemento dove, con l’aiuto di rimontaggi manuali, rimangono dai 25 ai 90 giorni. Dopo la pressatura i vini riposano nella bottaia in grandi botti di rovere di Slavonia.

Il periodo di permanenza in rovere dura 36 mesi per i Brunelli.
Dopo l’imbottigliamento i vini riposano in un ambiente a temperatura e umidità controllata fino alla messa in commercio.

Il Brunello 2012 di Le Ragnaie è la sintesi perfetta del percorso che Riccardo Campinoti ha campiuto in soli 10 anni: il suo Brunello è oggi il risultato di un grande vignaiolo, argentino di nascita ma toscano nel cuore che ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere personalmente con mio marito Oscar e i miei amici Stefano e Cristina, ottimi compagni di viaggio e degustazioni.
