BOLLINGER La Grande Annee Champagne Rosè 2014

CHAMPAGNE BOLLINGER ROSE’

Bollinger Champagnes are recognized among a thousand.

Champagne Bollinger owns an impressive 178 hectares of vineyards, of which 85% are in Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages. Their land is spread over seven main villages: Aÿ, Avenay, Louvois, Tauxières and Verzenay planted with Pinot Noir; Cuis with Chardonnay; and Champvoisy with Meunier. Bollinger are one of the few Houses to produce the majority of their own grapes for their blends. Pinot Noir represents 60% of the House’s vineyards and defines the House style: complex and powerful with remarkable structure. In 2012 Champagne Bollinger was certified High Environment Value (HEV) this certification rewards a number of environmental procedures implemented at the Maison.

In 1976, Bollinger Vintage was re-named Grande Année and then in 1997, it became La Grande Année – ‘The Great Year’ – a name simple enough to illustrate its exceptional status, because only truly extraordinary years become vintage at Bollinger. A distinctive blend between a great vintage champagne and a red wine from an exclusive plot – the legendary 4 hectare steep hillside vineyard Côte aux Enfants. Here the grapes are on a chalky rich soil exposed South-east and tilted towards the sun at 30 degrees. This unique vineyard is one of the few to contain extremely rare ungrafted vines, which produce more intense and flavourful wines with better ageing potential. La Grande Année Rosé is a rare treat and a true Bollinger.

CHAMPAGNE LA GRANDE ANNEE 2014

A prestigious vintage champagne signed Bollinger

-The Estate-
Timeless and mythical, the Champagne House Bollinger, nicknamed “Boll” for the Champenois or “Boly” for the English, is part of the small circle of the very large houses of Champagne. The style of Champagne Bollinger is defined by the exemplary precision brought to each moment of the elaboration. Respect for tradition, hand riddling of bottles, corking of reserve magnum bottles, the last remaining cooper in the Champagne region, this taste for excellence symbolises the entire culture of Champagne Bollinger. More than an art, it is a heritage.

-The vineyard-
La Grande Année 2014 comes from 21 exceptional vintages of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Mostly from Ay and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir, the chardonays completing the blend are mainly from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oiry.

-The vintage 2014-
La Grande Année is only vinified in the case of an exceptional vintage with a perfect balance of berries. The 2014 vintage delivers generous, lively and complex wines.

-Tasting-

  • Colour: An appearance with pinkish glints.
  • Nose: A real mosaic of fruit: aromas of raspberry, wild strawberries, cherries, etc. Notes of peach and quince complete this fruity bouquet.
  • Palate: This wine is characterised by its creamy effervescence, splendid volume in the mouth and long aromatic persistence. Its wonderful acidity and sea-air characteristics appear alongside flavours of orchard fruits and berries.
